• January 23, 2008 - Congressional Candidate Steve Ivester opens District Headquarters in Morganton
  
  

  • On Sunday, January 20, Steve Ivester, Tenth District Democratic Congressional candidate, along with fifteen well-wishers and supporters, formally opened his District Headquarters in Morganton, NC.  Steve chose Morganton for his headquarters due to his strong ties to the area and its ideal location, being centrally located in the heart of the Tenth Congressional District (see MAP).  Steve's headquarters, located on South Sterling Street (Highway 18), is just across the street from Broughton Hospital.  Initially, it will be open from 1 - 4 PM, six days per week (closed Sundays).
    
    
    
    

  • Steve, a Morganton native and long-time Hickory resident, has deep roots and ongoing real estate interests in three of the ten Counties of the District.  He was born and raised in Burke County, and his parents were from Cleveland County, where Steve continues to own his grandfather’s small Belwood farm.  Steve and his first-and-only wife, Judy, have lived and worked in Hickory for almost twenty-five years.
    
    

  • Twelve months ago, Steve started on his quest to represent the Tenth District in the U.S. Congress.  In midsummer, he began active campaigning in all communities, large and small, and at local fairs, parades, and breakfast clubs.  Steve has met and listened to thousands of Tenth District Voters.  Being a "Centrist," Steve is willing to work with all political parties.  He is a fiscal conservative and a social moderate.
    
    

  • Steve is very interested in increased regional cooperation among counties, towns, and communities of the Tenth Congressional District.  He does not feel that even the smallest community should be in the shadow of Charlotte, Raleigh, or any other city in the State or District.  Since its inception, Steve has been active in the recent Inter-Basin Transfer water battle over the Catawba River, where regional cooperation carried the day.

  • Steve Ivester, Democratic Candidate for the Tenth District US Congress, is a Sponsor for, and will appear at, an Elected Officials Reception on the evening of Thursday, January 10, at the Verdict Ridge Golf & Country Club.  Steve is a member of the Lincolnton/Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce that is holding the event.

  • Steve ran a manufacturing business in Catawba County, holds a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School, and is very interested in the prosperity of businesses in our District.  He knows what it is to have to "make a payroll."
