Recent polls show that 75% of the American population
believe that the country is on the wrong track. Our country is facing
numerous crises with real strategic implications for the future. The
middle class is being squeezed and is in decline. Our military and
reserves are overextended and underfunded. Pensions and social
security are under assault. Jobs are being outsourced—Americans are
underemployed, unemployed, or forced into early retirement. Healthcare
has become unaffordable for many; the beneficiaries of our policies have
become the HMO’s and the Drug Companies, not the people. Diplomacy has
been abandoned, we have few allies left, and our only energy policy seems to
be how big a profit Big Oil can make each quarter.
During the last 11 months, I have visited dozens of
Fairs/Parades/Events and listened to thousands of people here in the Tenth
District—people who were rich and poor, Democrat, Independent, and
Republican, of all races, creeds, and professions. Most agree that it
is time we take back this seat, change the direction of this country, and
find solutions that work for the people, not the powerful special interests.
"The 10th district is in my blood"—I am a son of the
10th district with solid roots in Cleveland, Burke, and Catawba Counties.
My philosophy is conservative on spending, and socially moderate. I
have the knowledge, skills, and experience to bring new ideas and solutions
to Washington that will serve the farms, factories, and people of our Tenth
District. I am a creative thinker and problem solver. I have
worked in Engineering and Marketing and as an Owner and Operator of my own
company. I served three years of active duty as a US Military Officer.
I have traveled extensively throughout the world. I read extensively
in Foreign Affairs, Science, and Technology. Adding to that is my
long-term personal involvement in City, County, and Regional issues related
to water, transportation, and economic development and planning.
For me to have any chance to change what is coming out
of Washington, and thus help improve our lives here in North Carolina, I
need your help. I am told that campaign contributions are the whole
story in getting elected. For every voter I meet personally, there are
10 others who will be influenced by TV, Radio, Print, Display Ads or Direct
Mail. That is not the "how it should be," but that is the way it is.
So, if we are to have a chance to work together to for a better tomorrow, I
need you to own a piece of my campaign. By making a contribution, you
can help get my message out and start to take back our country.
Thank you for your support and your willingness to be a
part of the solution.
Sincerely,
Steve Ivester
